Financial Support for the Children

In any divorce case where children are involved, the parties need to make some decision on who will pay the relative expenses of the children and whether one parent will pay child support to the other. Generally parents are allowed to reach any agreement that they wish to reach. However, when there are children involved, the Court will review their agreement to make sure there is adequate support for the children. To help determine whether there is adequate support, Minnesota, like many states, has adopted child support guidelines.  To calculate child support under the guidelines go to    childsupportcalculator.dhs.state.mn.us
